Universal Music – Canada – National Lifestyles Promotion rep.

With his roots planted fully in a Caribbean heritage, DJ Vibe was born into a family where music was a part of everyday life.

He was introduced early to the music industry through the work of his Father and Aunt, who are both successful recording artists. Even as a young child, DJ Vibe had an appreciation for the up and coming urban artists beyond those heard in the ʻmainstreamʼ. Visits with family in New York introduced DJ Vibe to cutting edge inner-city life, including underground urban music via mix tapes.

The young DJ Vibe was truly inspired by the mixes on the tapes he acquired in New York, and began to follow suit. Vibe found his own style through model DJs doing it real big at the time, such as Chinese Laundry, FPM (First Priority Music), Funkmaster Flex, and Kid Capri, just to name a few. Vibeʼs other musical influences included Notorious B.I.G, Bob Marley, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, and Group Home. Outside the urban genre, Vibe also caught himself listening to Madonna, AC/DC, the Eagles, Josh Winx, Armand Van Helden, and Carl Cox.

The Passion …

When he was about 13, Vibe found his first pair of used turntables and a used Realistic mixer and started to practice. With equipment that had no pitch control and limited ability for scratching, Vibe devoted countless hours to experimenting and learning how to mix and manipulate music. Moving from Mix Tapes to House Parties, he was building a positive reputation in the local community. House Parties gave Vibe the experience necessary to perform at a higher caliber in local nightclubs. Regular gigs at various local nightclubs provided Vibe with the opportunity to ʻmoveʼ crowds ranging from 20-2000 people.

DJ Vibeʼs mix caught the ear of promoters, advancing him to higher profile shows and gigs. Throughout his illustrious career, DJ Vibe has opened for artists and DJs such as Maestro Fresh Wes, Kardinall Offishall, Jullie Black, Choclaire, Mr. Vegas, Sanchez, Beenie Man, Tanto Metro and Devonte, Mobb Deep, and Nas, just to name a few. Within the tri-cities, DJ Vibe is now a recognized and well respected household name in the urban genre. His well renowned radio show, Heat Radio, can be heard on 93.3 CFRU FM, where he brings the Heat each and every Saturday from 4pm-6pm.

Although DJ Vibe started out in the urban genre, his versatility and love of music has led him to encompass other genres into his musical repertoire. He adjusts his playing style to meet the demands of any crowd, whether it be Top 40, Country, House, ʻOld Schoolʼ, or of course Hip Hop, R&B, and Reggae. Vibe is now just as likely to perform at the after party for Rascal Flatts or Carrie Underwood as he is to do a CD Release Party for 50 Cent, Jay-Z, or Akon.

No matter what type of crowd you are anticipating, DJ Vibe is certain to get them on the dance floor and keep them there until last call!!
