So You’re ready to start looking for a professional DJ for your big event, but where do you start? Below are 5 ways to help find the right DJ for you! 

1) Google

A great place to start your search is of course Google. Simply go to the search bar and put in the phrase “DJs near me”. You’ll see a host of great DJs come up immediately! Google is a great place to start because most professional DJs will have a web sight showcasing their talents, and style. Google is also what’s called an “Authoritative” Search tool… In short they will try to best match your likes, and tastes with the DJs being displayed.  Once you’ve found a DJ that you’re interested in you should be able to see past client reviews submitted on google as well. This is a great approach if you like to take your time and search through information at you’re own pace

2) Facebook Groups

If You’re looking for more client based feedback when looking for your DJ, I would highly suggest Facebook Groups.  

No matter where you are in the world, I’ll guarantee you that someone will have a specific group dedicated to what ever you’re looking for. For instance, I’m sure there’s a group in your local area or region dedicated to weddings and other event types.  In these Facebook Groups you’ll have members that would have used DJ’s for your particular type of event prior. Once you ask, other member usually have no trouble at all chiming in with the DJs they’ve used in the past along with their past experiences. 

For best results go the the particular group you have in mind and begin a discussion. Best results are yielded with the phrase “ISO DJ” then include the details you feel are needed. Ie date, place, time, venue ECT.

There are sites that directly put you in contact with event professionals directly.
Bark.com is a web-based services platform designed to connect clients with service providers. Whether you’re needing a DJ, photography, decorators etc. Bark is a great resource where you can easily hire the right person for your particular event. This is a great option if you prefer to send out your event details to a lot of DJs at once and have them contact you with there offers, styles, and pricing.

Another site that directly put you in contact with event professionals directly is Eventective.
Much like Bark.com this is also a web-based services platform designed to connect clients with service providers. Whether you’re needing a DJ, photography, decorators etc. Eventective is another great resource where you can easily hire the right person for your particular event.

5) Instagram

Where to find a professional DJ
If you’re looking for a more trendy and up to date DJ, then perhaps Instagram might be the place to you? Instagram gives you an idea of what DJs are currently active and the types of events that particular DJ would be the best fit for. For best results go to the search bar and put in “#yourcitydj” for instance if your looking for a NY DJ, then put #NYDJ or #NewyorkDJ into the search bar. Likewise if you’re looking for a DJ in Toronto, then try the hashtag #Torontodj in the search bar. From there,  you’re able to scroll through the pictures once you find someone of interest simply click on the picture, from there you should be able DJ’s bio and information. Most DJs will have their website and contact info within the bio page.
